Andrew Friedson
Council Member, Montgomery County Council
Andrew Friedson is in his second term representing District 1 (Bethesda, Chevy Chase, and Potomac) on the Montgomery County Council—the only place he’s called home. First elected in 2018 as the youngest Councilmember in history, he became the youngest-ever Council President in 2023.
A proud member of the Jewish community, Friedson led efforts to expand the Nonprofit Security Grants program, securing nearly $5 million to protect synagogues and schools, and authored the County’s resolution to combat antisemitism. He also championed support for Jewish social service organizations and helped Bikur Cholim build a kosher kitchen for families in medical crisis.
