Chanan Weissman

Director, Emerging Technologies, Maimonides Fund

Chanan Weissman is the Director of Emerging Technologies at Maimonides Fund, where he works at the nexus of AI, philanthropy, and the future of Jewish life. He joined Maimonides in 2023 as the Director of the SAPIR Institute following a 13-year career at the U.S. Department of State. In government, he served twice as the White House Liaison to the Jewish Community during the Obama and Biden Administrations. He also held roles on the National Security Council staff as Director for Technology and Democracy and later as Director for Partnerships and Global Engagement. He holds a B.A. in journalism and government and politics from the University of Maryland and an M.S. in international relations and security from Georgetown University. He lives in Baltimore with his wife, Elana, and their four daughters.
