Alex Shapiro is the Chief Executive Officer at United Jewish Federation of Utah. Alex’s roots in Utah run deep — beginning with his grandfather, who settled in the Salt Lake Valley in 1917 and founded the family business, Shapiro Luggage, where Alex worked before assuming leadership of the Federation. Over the past 16 years, Alex has guided the Federation through sustained growth and evolution, transforming it from a small “mom and pop” operation into a trusted, dynamic organization—quadrupling annual revenue and expanding programs and reach statewide. An avid golfer and baseball fan, Alex is most proud to be “Dad” to his twin sons, Jake and Josh, fourth-generation Jewish Utahns.
