Aviad Friedman

Director General, Tkuma and the Tnufa Directorate

Aviad Friedman is Director General of the Tkuma Directorate and the Tnufa Directorate for the North, leading the Government of Israel’s recovery, rebuilding and long-term development efforts in Israel’s South and North.

Friedman joined the Tkuma Directorate in 2025, leading the next phase of recovery and long-term growth in the communities surrounding Gaza. In 2026, his responsibilities expanded to include the Tnufa Directorate for the North.

He previously served as Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Construction and Housing and held senior leadership positions across government, business and civil society. He was among the founders of Taglit-Birthright Israel and served as Volunteer Chairman of the Israel Association of Community Centers.

In his current role, Friedman works with government ministries, local authorities, communities and partners in Israel and around the world. Following October 7, he also served more than 300 days in reserve duty.
