Dr. Ilana Horowitz
Assistant Professor & Chair of Contemporary Jewish Life, Tulane University
Ilana Horwitz is the Fields-Rayant Chair of Contemporary Jewish Life and an Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies and Sociology at Tulane University. She holds a PhD in Sociology of Education & Jewish Studies from Stanford University. Her research focuses on the intersections of religious upbringing, race, ethnicity, social class, and gender. Her first book, God, Grades, and Graduation, was praised by The Wall Street Journal and won a Distinguished Book Award from the American Sociological Association. Dr. Horwitz’s work is published in leading journals, and she is a regular contributor to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other outlets.
