Pre-GA program

9:00am
iRep Study Day

9:00am - 5:00pm

The iRep Religion and State Insiders Yom Iyyun will include deep dives into the trends within Israeli society that have shaped the ”hot topic” policies of Shabbat in the public sphere, marriage freedom, the Rabbinate monopoly over kashrut, conversion and more.

Participants will engage with individuals from across Israeli society’s “tribes,” that have created the `Religion and State` landscape and discourse, including National Religious, ultra-Orthodox, secular and the liberal streams as well as those from Israel’s Russian-speaking community. Participants will emerge from the seminar with new knowledge and deeper understanding of the issues at stake and the dynamics that form them.

Tel Aviv is not just the first Jewish modern city of Israel. Using a UIA lens, the city is a tour guide’s dream for telling the story of Federations’ impact on the quality, vitality and cultural life of Israel. Kicked off by a morning program our day will be filled with site visits to meaningful programs and impressive institutions that are thriving thanks to Federation support.

The United Israel Appeal, a subsidiary the Jewish Federations of North America, is a link between American Jewry and Israel. The UIA allocates and monitors funds raised by Federations across the United States for distribution in Israel to the Jewish Agency and to a wide range of additional non-profit educational and social agencies.
